I know of the denisovan contribution, but I recall somebody saying there were three waves of immigration before the Europeans, and that the most closely related Eurasian ethnicity was the hill tribes.

are you talking about the munda or the tibeto-burman? the tldr is that there are deep but very ancient connections between indigenous s/se asian populations and australians. but the connections are like 45K years old not very recent...

A very long time ago I heard somebody say that Australian indigenous people were closely related to Indian original populations. Obviously this was rubbish, or maybe something thought by anthropologists at the time.

Thanks for this. Another book by Walter Scheidel I'd recommend is his recent Escape From Rome: The Failure of Empire and the Road to Prosperity. As for podcast guests, I think polymath Steve Hsu would be great to have on, to discuss the work of his company Genomic Prediction. Just watched both of your interviews on Dwarkesh Patel's podcast!

Razib, how much time do you spend reading boos per day if you don’t mind me asking? Would love to hear you address your reading and writing routine/habits on a podcast or post. Thanks.
